A very passionate take on product management. Every time I am exposed to these ideas, many of which I agree with, I realize why so many people burn out in the job. It is simply (not easily) very much like starting a business which is already hard! And then you add on top of it a lot of people you HAVE to involve that have A LOT to say about how you should do it. Pure madness :D
Yes, it is crazy. And I have burnt out doing all that. However, there is a world where this can be done in a balanced way. I think the key is growing into this role at a carefully managed pace and figuring out which aspects of it you love and which give you energy. This described above is how I'd like to be able to do the job. And I still absolutely love it. Every bit of it. This way of doing it. That said there are many aspects of PMing that absolutely drain me.. which I did not mention :D
